Summer of Shoes: Pair 14

In case you were wondering how many pairs of black heels one woman can have…the answer is “a lot”. These are some Bandolino open toed slingbacks. I’m not sure I’ve ever worn them before but they are comfy so I will again. I think they are faux leather with a shiny snake print.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 13

I have been on the hunt for some cool black flats for awhile so when I saw Cynthia Vincent flats on Gilt for $99 I grabbed them. The laser cut leather makes them perfect for summer. The only problem is they are a little creaky – but once the leather is more broken in I think that will stop.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 12

Today’s pair are some very old Nine West kitten heel slides. I can’t recall the last time I wore them. They are kind of sporty looking and generally comfortable so I don’t know why I don’t wear them. I might get rid of them.

July 4th Camping

I decided I wanted to go camping for Independence Day weekend, but with an engagement party on Saturday and most spots being booked I couldn’t do the whole weekend. So we decided to just go camping one night. My family hasn’t been camping in years so my mom had to go through all of our gear and do inventory. Thanks Mom!

We ended up camping at Tobyhanna State Park in the Poconos. I got 2 sites for $35. It was an easy drive west on Rt 80 to get there and the park is very nice with a pretty lake. Of course it poured all day Sunday but the radar looked to be clearing for the afternoon so we headed out. Just as we got there it started pouring again but the Ranger told us after this it should be done.

After we setup we went on a pre-dinner walk over to the swimming beach.

Spotted a frog

Back at the site Jon was grilling up some Kebabs.

My Dad and Kyle played an intense chess match while the rest of us made s’mores.

The next day we had pancakes for breakfast and headed over to the boat launch to rent some canoes. Vanessa and I had a nice paddle around the lake. Natalie and Kyle took Echo on his first boat ride.

I would definitely go back. Even though it was packed for the holiday Tobyhanna still had a very laid back feel. The Ranger stopped by to talk to us for awhile and said that when it’s not a holiday weekend they are never even half full.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 11

I’m a little behind on posting Summer of Shoes updates but I promise I’ve been keeping to the project! I do have 2 pairs I forgot to photograph and need to bring into work.

So let’s catch up, ok? These are silver Mossimo flats from Targets. They are knockoffs of some Seychelles shoes which are probably knockoffs of another brand. But they are comfy and go with lots of stuff so I wear them a lot.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 10

These are my newest pair of shoes and I love them! They are made by Matisse, a brand I like because their shoes are made of leather in Brazil, but are still affordable. I got these for under $100.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 9

These are cheap Mossimo or Merona shoes I bought in Target. They have a slight wedge and the cutouts keep your feet cool.

Discover Hudson Valley Ride

I recently did the Bike New York Hudson Valley Ride with my parents and my sister Natalie. It was my first try to give my new-to-me Fuji Finest RC a real workout and the longest ride I’ve ever done! My parents opted for the 15mile while Natalie and I did the 30 miler.T

The big attraction of this event was riding over the Hudson Riverwalk bridge.

We stopped to take some photos. This is my parents and my sister.

Once we crossed the bridge my parents continued on but we came back across and headed to the Hyde Park loop.  Our first rest stop was in a Drive-In Movie Theater.

We rode past the FDR Estate & Presidential Library as well as the Vanderbilt Mansion. I managed to blow by one turn, but Natalie yelled and I stopped not too far past it. There was one tortuous country road that just kept going up and up, but my sister and I managed to ride up everything. Go us!

We ended up getting back before my parents. They insisted they were taking their time and stopping to take photos which is why it took them longer to ride 15 miles than we did 30. Yeah right, Mom. At the end there was coconut water, and t-shirts, and PIE!

Summer of Shoes: Pair 8

We are casual at work on friday so I can wear these sneakers. I bought them because they were crosstrainers and I didn’t want to wear my expensive running sneakers just to go to the gym. While they are cool looking they have the worst footbeds EVAH! I replaced them with blue SmartFeet and I’m much happier.

Summer of Shoes: Pair 7

I loved these shoes when I first saw them on J.Crew but they quickly sold out in my size. When I finally decided I had to have them, I was able to locate a pair on ebay. They are cream colored suede. I love that J.Crew shoes are made in Italy.  When I first got them I did need to break them in a bit because the toe strap was tight but now they are perfect. I’m always happy when I find awesome shoes that have heel heights 3″ or less.
