A lesson in attractive packaging

I’ll admit that I’m a suck for good packaging. Ask anyone in the cosmetic industry and you’ll learn just how important packaging can be.

When I received my order from Piperlime, Gap’s new online shoe store, I was delighted by the packaging. Good packaging makes a purchase seem like a special gift. Even when I shop in brick and mortar stores I enjoy when my packages are wrapped in tissue paper and gussied up before being places in a special shopping bag.

In a market where most stores have similar products and prices, great packaging sets a store apart. I have often shopped at Zappos but when a shoe I wanted wasn’t available in my size, I started looking around. I found it on sale for nearly half the price at Piperlime and then I found a discount code so I got them for far less than half the Zappos price.

Then I got the package…

first a simple white box with the Piperlime logo on the side

I opened it up and was delighted to see the little lime printed liner. Very posh.

And inside were my shoes (2 pairs!) prettily wrapped in brown tissue paper and sealed with a lime slice sticker

Also an envelope containing my receipt and return shipping label.

And a nice little card.

I’ll definitely shop at Piperlime again…especially if I find coupon codes! Overall I think Piperlime has a great modern design asthetic. Nice logo, packaging, colors. The website is designed well too.
